What is DisplayPort?
DisplayPort is a publicly available digital interface created by VESA that allows image and sound to be sent over the same cable. DisplayPort also has a separate line that supports connections such as panel input/outputs and microphones. One of the most prominent features of DisplayPort is that it allows multiple monitors over a single cable. Companies that support DisplayPort are quite large: Intel, NVIDIA, Samsung, Dell and Lenovo ati. While HDMI is a connection interface developed for consumer electronics, DisplayPort is a connection interface developed only for computer systems.
NVIDIA will also provide DisplayPort support with its new generation graphics processors. (For example, G92 has Displayport support).
Of course, it wouldn't make sense to have DisplayPort support only on graphics cards. We also need to see DisplayPort connection support on the LCD monitors to be used. There is no such model on sale yet, but our hope in this regard is that the extra taxes applied to DVI connected monitors in our country will not be applied to DisplayPort monitors, since DisplayPort will only be for computer systems.
